Emotions that Help

Velez, Wolchik, Tein, and Sandler argue that children are effected by parents getting divorced. They make claims that says how the children's stress levels are effected by divorce. They developed this claim by first stating that children who can cope efficacy, can deal with stressful emotions, this has also shown to act negatively on their mental health. Then they state that children with good relationships with their mothers have are more likely to cope actively. They also state that they way a child copes depends on its gender. Girls and boys cope differently sometimes. They show that children who have a positive emotions with accepting mothers might counter negative emotions. Lastly they state that children with a high-quality relationship are likely to have an increase in coping efficacy (Causey & Dubow,1993.)
